ABSTRACT

This research paper mainly focuses on  the question “Do the laws related to the Maintenance is in need of any sort of amendment?” Maintenance is a basic right which provides necessities to which the women are entitled. In numerous cases, maintenance not only includes food, clothing and housing, but also the requisite comforts and conditions in which the entitled person is reasonably expected to live. The section 24 of the Hindu marriage act prescribes  the duty of the husband to provide  maintenance which is sufficient to his wife so that she is able to maintain herself financially. Further, section 25 of the Act deals with the grounds that are present for women to have permanent alimony. Thus, This paper study all the provisions regarding the act which need to be reconsidered.
